The Ultimate Fondue Broth Recipe: A Fun & Budget-Friendly Way to Gather!
There’s something magical about fondue nights. Whether you're cozying up with your sweetheart, hosting a lively family dinner, or enjoying a fun night with friends, fondue brings people together like no other meal. Even kids love the excitement of dipping bite-sized goodies into a simmering pot of flavorful broth! Plus, making your own fondue broth is way more affordable than buying pre-made versions—without any mystery ingredients!
Budget-Friendly: Skip the expensive store-bought mixes and make a delicious broth with simple pantry staples.
Customizable: Adjust the seasonings to your taste and switch up the stock or wine for different flavors.
Perfect for Any Occasion: Great for date nights, dinner parties, or even a fun weeknight meal with the family.
2 ½ cups chicken stock (or stock of your choice)
1/4 cup dry red wine
1 tbsp Worcestershire sauce
1 small onion, diced
2 cloves garlic, minced
1 tbsp ketchup
1 tsp salt
1/2 tsp black pepper
1 tsp onion powder
1 tsp garlic powder
1 tsp paprika or smoked paprika
Pour stock into a saucepan or fondue pot over medium heat and bring to a simmer.
Add wine, onion, garlic, and all remaining ingredients.
Let the broth simmer for about 15 minutes until aromatic.
Pour into your fondue pot and keep on a low simmer.
If the broth level gets too low during the meal, add a bit of water to keep it going.
This broth pairs beautifully with a variety of ingredients:
Meats: Thinly sliced beef, chicken, pork, or shrimp.
Vegetables: Mushrooms, zucchini, onions, bell peppers, and more.
Root Veggies: Parboil potatoes, carrots, or sweet potatoes before dipping.
For a lighter, seafood-friendly broth:
Replace chicken stock with fish or seafood stock.
Swap red wine for white wine or dry vermouth.
Add a bay leaf, a pinch of saffron, and fresh thyme for extra depth.
Great with shrimp, scallops, white fish, calamari, and even lobster pieces.
For a plant-based broth that’s just as rich:
Use vegetable stock instead of chicken stock.
Swap Worcestershire sauce for tamari or coconut aminos.
Add a splash of soy sauce or miso paste for extra umami.
Enhance flavor with a piece of kombu (seaweed), nutritional yeast, or a dash of liquid smoke.
Perfect for tofu, mushrooms, broccoli, cauliflower, bell peppers, and tempeh.
So, grab your skewers, gather your loved ones, and enjoy a fun and interactive meal that’s both delicious and easy on the wallet. Happy dipping!
