Easy Soya Marinade for Meats and Poultry

Easy Soya Marinade for Meats and Poultry

This recipe is one of those hidden gems that might seem simple at first glance, but trust me, it packs a punch in terms of flavor and versatility. Whether you’re in a rush or have time to let it marinate all day, this dish will never disappoint! It’s my go-to for transforming less expensive cuts of meat and poultry into something that tastes gourmet.

The origin of this recipe traces back to the Borden Best Recipes Cookbook, but I always lovingly refer to it as my “Realemon Cookbook” because so many of my favorite recipes come from it. If you’ve ever reached for a bottle of Realemon lemon juice, you’ll know it’s a pantry staple for me—perfectly tangy and always ready to elevate any dish.

Here’s the simple yet flavorful marinade that makes all the magic happen:

Ingredients:

  • 1/2 cup Realemon Lemon Juice

  • 1/2 cup soy sauce (reduced salt for a lighter option)

  • 1/2 cup vegetable oil (or oil of your choice)

  • 3 tbsp ketchup or BBQ sauce

  • 3 cloves garlic, crushed

  • 1/2 tsp ground black pepper

  • 2 tbsp grainy mustard (optional, but adds a nice tang)

Instructions:

  1. In a medium bowl, combine all the ingredients and mix well.

  2. Pour the marinade over your meat and seal it in a Ziplock bag (or place it in a bowl), making sure all the meat is fully coated.

  3. If you're short on time, marinate for about an hour and leave it at room temperature, covered. For longer marinating, refrigerate for up to a few hours, then remove from the fridge an hour before cooking.

  4. When you’re ready to cook, discard the marinade or set it aside for glazing. If you’d like to create a glaze, simply add 1/4 cup maple syrup or brown sugar to the remaining marinade and simmer it over low-medium heat until it thickens. Brush this delicious glaze over your meat for a glossy, flavorful finish.

This marinade is an absolute game-changer for meats of all kinds, whether you're working with beef, pork, or even chicken. And the best part? You can customize it to suit your taste! Swap the ketchup for a smoky BBQ sauce, or add a hint of spice with a dash of hot sauce. It's a recipe that really evolves with your preferences.

What I love most is that it’s a quick, easy solution for busy days—yet it still has the potential to wow guests at a dinner party. So, next time you’re in a rush or just want to enjoy a tender, flavorful meal, give this recipe a try. It might just become your new go-to too!
