Tasty Tzatziki Sauce

Creamy, tangy, and bursting with fresh flavors, this easy Tzatziki Sauce recipe is perfect as a dip, spread, or topping. Made with Greek yogurt or sour cream, fresh dill, and locally grown garlic, it’s a must-have for any Mediterranean dish.

Why You'll Love This Recipe

  • Fresh & Flavorful: The combination of fresh dill, garlic, and lemon creates a vibrant taste.

  • Versatile: Serve it with pita bread, grilled veggies, gyros, or even as a salad dressing.

  • Healthy Ingredients: Greek yogurt or sour cream adds creaminess without the guilt.

Ingredients

  • 2 cups plain Greek yogurt, sour cream, or a mix of both

  • 1 cup cucumber, finely diced, salted, and drained (see note below)

  • Juice of half a lemon (about 2 tablespoons)

  • 4 large cloves garlic, minced

  • 3 green onions, chopped finely

  • ½ teaspoon dried dill or 1 teaspoon fresh dill

  • 1 tablespoon honey

  • 1 teaspoon coarse sea salt

  • ½ teaspoon black pepper

INGREDIENTS:

2 c. plain Greek yogurt, sour cream or a mix of both

1 c. cucumber, finely diced, salted and drained (see below)

Juice of half a lemon (about 2 tbsp.)

4 large cloves garlic, minced

3 green onions, chopped finely

½ tsp. dried dill or 1 tsp. fresh dill

1 tsp. coarse sea salt

½ tsp. black pepper

INSTRUCTIONS:

Cucumber preparation: Finely dice the cucumber, sprinkle with a pinch of salt, and let it sit in a colander for 10 minutes. Squeeze out excess liquid before adding to the sauce.

Tip: Place your salt on the chopping block and the garlic cloves on top, finely dice the garlic in the salt, it makes it easier and perhaps tastier!

How to Make Tzatziki Sauce

Step 1: Prep the Cucumber

  • Finely dice the cucumber, sprinkle with a pinch of salt, and let it sit in a colander for 10–15 minutes.

  • Gently squeeze out excess moisture with your hands or a clean kitchen towel. Removing water ensures a thick and creamy sauce.

Step 2: Mix the Ingredients

  • In a medium-sized bowl, combine Greek yogurt or sour cream, lemon juice, garlic, green onions, dill, honey, salt, and black pepper.

  • Add the drained cucumber and stir until well combined.

Step 3: Chill & Serve

  • Cover and refrigerate for at least 30 minutes to let the flavors meld.

  • Serve chilled with pita bread, grilled meats, or roasted veggies including potatoes.
